Working with the international community

The Commission is Canada's National Human Rights Institution. We regularly engage with international partners and with United Nations committees to help promote human rights worldwide. As part of this work, we monitor and report on whether Canada is meeting its international human rights obligations. We do this by making submissions to the United Nations and related bodies about how Canada is faring and where there are areas of concern that need to be addressed. It allows us to raise concerns about new and emerging human rights issues, while also reiterating calls for action to address long-standing inequities.
